Our main focus will loosely be around the Zigbee protocol, used to create Sensor Networks, the so-called WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks).

We’re not claiming to invent things, well perhaps, but we always get there a bit too late…

This blog wouldn’t have been possible without Oskar’s help from www.enrutador.com

The Why:

For a long time, wireless technology has been a part of our everyday life.

Without even thinking, we use them all the time. Take mobile phones as an example; We use them constantly to make voice calls or to send and receive text messages, to connect to the internet wherever we may be, or to manage another device such as hands-free.

At home or in our working place, we use them too. To connect computers to each other, to connect them to the internet or to manage wireless devices (e.g. printers, mobile synchronization, mice, earphones …)

Here in this Knowledge-based Society we are evolving quickly, just as much technically as conceptually, with new ideas and theories…

There is a concept, which until recently was only a theory, that thanks to technology it may be gaining strength and start to become a reality. This is “The Internet of Things”…

Once we achieve, in the last times, to connect people to networks of networks, now is time of the things, yes of the things!

All indicators point towards the direction in which the technology is evolving will lead to all machines and devices being connected to each other either directly or through the internet.

The future of technology will look for that the devices, the machines, and/or the Things connect between themselves directly or through a wireless network…

Why? So that machines are able to receive perfectly structured data (web 3.0?) from other machines and then transform this data into valid information so they can make rational intelligent decisions, and act autonomously between themselves.

Among other technologies appears the Zigbee protocol, and on this blog we believe that it can provide, as a technology, an accelerator so that the Internet of Things could become a reality.

Zigbee basically is a protocol that permits wireless communications via low-power radio waves, applicable to low power consumption devices on solutions where low data rates and secure data transfers are required.

And in this context this blog was born, we hope that it will be useful and at least it serves to the members of this project to put our ideas in order and to share our knowledge.

Greetings, thank you for visiting and stay tuned for more…
